Heidi is a beautiful young lady. I think its a good portrait with a great visual sense of dimensional depth. Heidi appears to be well away from the background.
I think the fill flash could have been deflected with your left hand with the camera held in portrait orientation, just to float the flash effect a little more reducing the full-on intensity.

Haha, i love this kind of photo.
I don't mind the heavy red, her face is quite pale, so the reflection of the red gives it a bit extra colour.

yes, she really looks sad here. But to tell the truth, she was high concetrated on some plastic construction toy which is just out of sight :-)

Lovely shot.she seems to be in deep thoughts!!! I love the red and the shimmering golden hair.. overall a very nice shot.

I have to say that my initial thought was this photo was a bit harsh and overexposed. I've came back to this image several times to study it. I must say I finally get it; what you were trying to do with the post-processing. I really like it on several levels but primarily because it reminds me not to be so quick to judgment and to allow images some time to reveal themselves.
