You know german "Schützenfest"? It comes from the time of Napoleon Bonaparte: he outlawed the local town guards so they pretended to be a shooting club, what allowed them to wear weapons and uniform. Still they are holding their annual shooting competition to find the best shooter who is then called the "Schützenkönig" (shooters king). The shooting is the less important thing, it is more a great folk festival with lots of beer and Schnaps, parades and trumpet music. Yesterday we walked into town to go for an icecream and stumbled into the shooters parade. No chance for getting through, we had to wait until they passed by until we reached the ice-cream parlour.
